Meet Ashley

Ashley Heyer Casey is an education professional with 15 years of experience as a gifted specialist focused on college advising and teaching AP US History.  Seven years ago, she developed a unique college and career course that uses a multi-faceted approach to help students discern their post-secondary path while gaining valuable tools for social-emotional growth at this critical juncture.  In her independent advising practice, she uses this same highly personalized, holistic yet data driven approach to help students worldwide gain admission to their best fit college, a place where they will be happy and successful. 

Ashley holds a BA in Political Science and History from Barnard College, Columbia University and a MA in History with a minor in Gifted Education from Louisiana State University.  She holds a certificate in College Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia Univeristy.  In 2011, she was named Louisiana’s James Madison Memorial Foundation Fellows, which fully funded her graduate education, she was awarded the Louisiana DAR History Teacher of the Year in 2016 and named a “Person to Watch” in 2006 by 225 Magazine.  She has served as an AP US History Exam Reader for six years. 

Prior to entering education, Ashley worked as a political communications consultant for 15 years, advising local, state and national leaders nationwide and advocating for education issues.  She began her communications career working at NY1 News.

She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore, Maine. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, the founding board of the Knock Knock Children’s Museum and on the Kappa Alpha Theta chapter board at LSU.  She is an active Alumnus of Miss Porter’s School.

Ashley understands the college application process well from the parent’s perspective. She has two children, a daughter who graduated from Dartmouth in 2021 and is a member of the Harvard Law School Class of 2026 and a son who is a Senior at Tufts University, Class of 2024.

In addition to her private consulting practice, Ashley continues to teach in the Gifted and Talented program at Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge.
