It is official, the SAT is adopting an adaptive, digital format by 2024, meaning that current High School Freshmen need to be prepared to take their PSAT online in 2023 and the full SAT online starting in Spring 2024. It will be a 2 hour test but it will not be easier; the questions will get harder depending on the student’s performance on test. This means old test preparation strategies will largely disappear so students will need to have extensive experience with taking the test online and mastering the content that could pop up on an adaptive question.

The free resources from Khan Academy will be very helpful for preparation, but students should also consider working with tutor who understands the digital test, can talk through the question strategy and develop an individualized plan.
